Adult Volunteers
Grades: 1 through 8
Immaculate Conception Parish
St. Jude Mission Church
All those involved in our religious education programs form a community of faith: children, parents, catechists, staff and our church. Together we assist children and young people to grow in intimacy with Jesus. Together we can help them develop a love of their faith and encourage them to increasingly be able to make informed and mature responses to that faith. Register today and give your child the gift of a lifetime. Help them nurture their faith and recognize the presence of Christ in themselves and others.
There are three (3) components of Primary and Youth Faith Formation at Immaculate Conception Parish/St. Jude Mission Church:
The first component is Religious Education Catechesis. You choose which ONE of the two following programs best fits your family schedule:
Ø Academy of Faith (Summer Program)
This is a one-week intense program that runs the last full week of June from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. The children have religious education classes, games, music and arts/crafts.
Ø Family Catechesis (Fall)
This is a hybrid program combining classroom and at-home catechists. It runs from mid-September through the beginning of April
The Second component is the Academy Card or Edge
Ø Academy Card (for grades 1 through 5)
Each year you will receive a list of events to choose from. You MUST complete at least five (5) events. The Academy Card events run from mid-September through the beginning of April.
Ø Edge (for grades 6 through 8)
You MUST complete at least five (5) events. The Edge events run from mid-September through the beginning of April.
Both the Academy Card and Edge events will run on the same night. There are a few events where the Academy Card will run and their will be no Edge event.
The Third component is the Diocesan Policy
Ø For the Sake of Children’s
This will be taught on the last Wednesday in January. More information will be sent out prior to the lesson.
No matter which of the first components your family chooses to attend, ALL components MUST be completed to fulfill the yearly diocesan requirements for Religious Education.
There will be a closing celebration for ALL Primary and Youth Religious Education Programs toward the end of April. Completion certificates will be issued at that time for all those who completed each component of the options.
Please make sure you are signed up for FLOCKNOTE, as this is our method of communicating and keeping you up to date with information, cancelations, or any other needs that arise.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Office of Faith Formation at 410-392-3551 or email us at [email protected]. Our parish follows a diocesan approved curriculum.
