Components of Religious Education
Grades: 1 through 8
All those involved in our religious education programs form a community of faith: children, parents, catechists, staff and our church. Together we assist children and young people to grow in intimacy with Jesus. Together we can help them develop a love of their faith and encourage them to increasingly be able to make informed and mature responses to that faith.Register today and give your child the gift of a lifetime. Help them nurture their faith and recognize the presence of Christ in themselves and others.
There are three (3) components of Primary and Youth Faith Formation at Immaculate Conception Parish/St. Jude Mission Church:
The first component is Religious Education Catechesis. You choose which ONE of the following programs best fits your family schedule:
- Academy of Faith (Summer Program): This is a one-week intense program that runs from June 21st to June 25th, 2027 from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. The children have religious education classes, games, music and arts & crafts.
Family Catechesis (Homeschool Fall Program for Grades 1-5): This year, our Fall program for elementary students is fully homeschool-based. Families will complete the curriculum at their own pace. The program officially kicks off following our mandatory Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and concludes on Friday, March 26th, 2027.
Edge (Fall Program for Grades 6-8): Middle school students will participate in the Edge program. The Edge classes meet twice a month on Wednesdays in the Youth Room at the Parish Center from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Second component is the Academy Card or Edge Events.
Academy Card (for grades 1 through 5): Each year you will receive a list of events to choose from. You MUST complete at least five (5) events. The Academy Card events run from mid-September through the beginning of April.
Edge/Life Teen Social Nights (for Grades 6-8 & High School): In addition to classes, middle school students MUST complete at least five (5) social night events alongside our high school youth group. These events take place one Sunday per month.
The Third component is the Diocesan Policy
For the Sake of God's Children: This will be taught on January 27th, 2027, from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Your child must attend this, or you must sign an opt-out form. More information will be sent out prior to the lesson.
No matter which of the first components your family chooses to attend, ALL components MUST be completed to fulfill the yearly diocesan requirements for Religious Education.
Please make sure you are signed up for FLOCKNOTE, as this is our method of communicating and keeping you up to date with information, cancelations, or any other needs that arise.
